Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu touched upon the demonstration of the sign of the radical nationalist organization “gray wolves” to representatives of the Armenian community of Uruguay on the eve of April 24.
According to Turkish media, Çavuşoğlu noted that Ankara has no problems with Uruguay. He said they were supposed to lay a wreath at the monument, but the Uruguayan authorities urged not to do so.
“The Uruguayan authorities said that they would be grateful if, in case of a possible protest, we cancel the wreath-laying stage, we canceled it. During the opening of our building, they assured our ambassador that this group will not be allowed to approach. It was wrong to bring that group there, even though they promised. The demonstrators behaved badly. After that ugly attitude, we gave the necessary answer,” Turkish FM said.
