Moscow expects that in the near future it will be possible to organize a meeting within the framework of the tripartite format of Russia-Iran-Azerbaijan. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced this at today’s briefing.
“We hope that in the near future it will be possible to reach an agreement on the agenda and dates of the tripartite meeting. For our part, we are ready to support it,” said the diplomat, responding to a request to comment on the prospects of the trilateral format.
Zakharova emphasized the fact that Moscow gives great importance to the Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran format.
“It has already proven itself as an effective platform for interaction, emphasizing the practical implementation of joint projects in the field of economy, transport and energy. We expect that the trilateral cooperation will make a significant contribution to the strengthening of mutually beneficial relations between our countries and the creation of a stable transport infrastructure, which is in great demand in modern conditions, including the North-South international transport corridor,” Zakharova said.
The diplomat noted that “it is important both from the point of view of further increasing the trade turnover of the “trio” and ensuring uninterrupted transit transportation based on the interests of the three states.”
